During our August trip to Southwold, it has been suggested that a tour around the Adnams Brewery may prove interesting.  They can accompodate up to 12 of us, at a cost of £10 per head.

We currently have 6 boats attending, so can I assume that you would all like to visit the brewery?

Please let me know ASAP so that I can book the tickets.

Many thanks

WoW Neil..... “Adnams brewery”. Grin...... I am now seriously impressed with you Eastcoasties . Now THERE is a pukka, all singing all dancing, tip top banana legend mini adventure destination. Me, at present  I’m bobbing about on the jolly old North sea, and  right at this very moment would pay a squillion squid  for a pint of Adnams   Roll Eyes

Have a good adventure

Blimey Trevor - I didn't realise that you soft Southern types were allowed to come and play in our patch!  So you managed to get round the corner without hitting the bottom?  Navigation can be tricky without those needles or white cliffs to guide you....

If you get stuck just let us know and we'll wade out to you.

Forsooth Neil, and verily you misunderstand. Huh I am round your side of the ”Isle of Britain” in a mighty steel ship, not a rag and stick aboard to be seen. I would be far to terrified of ‘er indoors  :-*to ever turn left at Dover. Away from the balmy southern latitudes and heading towards the icy wastes to the North. Certainly in my own frail cockle shell, I would cower in fear Shocked to be adrift on these fearsome Easternshire  seas. Tis only cocooned in my mighty steel ship, served by  many thousands of  willing horses, I face the whirlpools, dragons and demons that are know to trap the unsuspecting Southern softie.  Not to mention the fearsome marauding Magic pirates of the Swatchway’s that ply their diabolical trade in  these Easternshire  seas Shocked……………….Hmmm mind you,  a pint or six of Adnam’s finest could tempt me round I suppose  Grin….

Trevor, for your info, a few of your fellows did venture up this way last summer, you will find the Goose, Iona and Lord Scally made it to the east and didn't fall over the edge! We will make all welcome that make the massive trip from Dover ( 65 miles ish).

Yahoooooooooo Neil
Yes indeed they did venture up and its true not one fell off the edge. AND they all thoroughly enjoyed it; I have spend a lot of my working time around the east coast.  I have to say there are so many places in your neck of the woods that are seriously welcoming and down to earth. I am afraid to have to say often a stark contrast to the many shiny money grabbing haunts down our end. Proper boating, Swallows and Amazon gunk-holeing  adventures are still alive and well up your end.  The Hullaballoo’s were weaned on that sort of stuff (that’s where our boat name came from)  One of the reasons we moved her away from the Solent to French France was because the “lets squeeze the pips till they squeak” attitude is alive and well in the Solent and all points West I’m afraid. Often paying more than the cost of decent overnight accommodation ashore for a 36 footer to park up. I would love to be a fly on the bulkhead and see the reaction of you Easties should  anyone dare come alongside in a £95,000 menacing looking grey RIB  and   demand money…… for swinging to your OWN hook!!!!.
There are so many great places to visit in the Eastshire seas.To wander down the causeway at Pin Mill at chucking out time with a warm glow on and row back to the boat on a still summer evening is top banana. A quirky example that always makes me  Grin is the Grimsby boat club; I have always been made so welcome there. They own their own little marina, and as a visitor it is pennies to park overnight, beer is about a “squid and change a pint, In fact the last time I was there someone went out and bought us all fish and chips from the £1-25 fish and chip shop. To slip in the back door of Alfred Endersby’s zillion year old smoke house and buy some freshly smoked haddock for brekky, is indeed a balm to the “sole”.

Continue to keep boating real up there

Hi Guys,

Time to shake out those cruising chutes!...

Following latest advice from the HM, I suggest that we aim to arrive at Southwold at around 17.00hrs on Friday, thus Languard at 12.00hrs, leaving Woolverstone at 10.00hrs.  I've corrected the attached spreadsheet - sorry for the confusion with dates on the previous version.

Attendees are:

Yuletide   Neil & Deborah
Cento   Nick & Teri
Zambak   Brian & Carol
Silly Goose   Mike & Ann
Ocean Glider   Robert & Sarah
Destiny   Sam & Sue

Nick - please forward this to Sam & Sue, as I've lost their e-mail address.

Any questions, give me a call on 07774 103169.

Cheers

Well, how lucky were we with the weather! Great breeze to get all up there! We met up with Steve, Di & Holly on Kaikoura who were sailing the east coast as part of their summer holiday. The brewery trip and wine tasing went down a storm, and a huge thanks for Neil Yule who did all the organising.

A few select pictures are on the slideshow, including Carols special fish BBQ!

same again next year!

Thanks to Neil, who really can organise a pi**-up in a brewery!

Slideshow is here,

The happy sailors (or Sailors Rest) before the tasting!
